Where is the Illinois River Road?
Traversing both east and west sides of the Illinois River from Ottawa, 150 miles south to Havana, the Illinois River Road has spurs to the communities of Princeton and Canton. The Illinois River Road corridor has over 100 natural and historic sites and numerous unique communities located throughout its 10-county region.
The Scenic Byway is conveniently located between Chicago and St. Louis, but just far enough to get away from it all. So get off the beaten path and see what the Illinois River Road has in store for you!
Open throughout the year's warmer months, this quaint recreation of a 1920's farm gives children a glimpse of what farm life was like. Antique farm equipment, a working windmill, a replicated kitchen of the 1920's era, and one room school takes visitors back to a time of long ago. Watch as the giant gold fish surface in one of the three ponds. Purchase a feed cone for the many animals on site, from chickens, turkeys and geese, donkeys, cows and pigs. Slide down the Silo Slide in the barn; play on one of the playgrounds and shop in the country store. Have a snack or lunch in the concession area to round out your visit.
